And you&#8217;d be absolutely right. But this week, we decided to show you another side of the shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rex from the R1 Crew tackled a new kind of install: replacing the ancient, glitchy stock head unit in our shop 4Runner with a large touchscreen system from DASAITA. Was it smooth? Not exactly. Was it entertaining and worth it? 100 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-meet-the-problem-our-4runner-s-head-unit-was-doa\">Meet the Problem: Our 4Runner\u2019s Head Unit Was DOA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever dealt with a freezing, unresponsive, or outdated stock stereo, you\u2019ll relate. Our 4Runner\u2019s head unit had been giving us issues for years, so we finally decided to do something about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hit up our friends at DASAITA, and they came through with their G13 Android head unit. It\u2019s a plug-and-play upgrade with all the essential features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Built-in amplifier with DTS audio<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Steering wheel control compatibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Backup camera support, plus options for front and side cameras<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It brings modern convenience and tech to an older platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-install-kind-of-a-team-effort\">The Install: Kind of a Team Effort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The install wasn\u2019t flawless. After Rex and Eric got started, things took a turn. At one point, the screen refused to power on. The official diagnosis from Rex:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEric broke it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, Adam from DASAITA came through to help at R1 HQ, walking us through the setup and explaining what the unit can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-result-worth-every-minute\">The Result: Worth Every Minute<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the install was complete, the transformation was obvious:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Touchscreen is clean and responsive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Factory steering wheel controls and backup cam still work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interior looks significantly better<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wireless CarPlay runs smoothly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can even watch movies on your lunch break<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For anyone who wants modern features without buying a new vehicle, this upgrade makes a noticeable difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-we-re-sharing-this\">Why We\u2019re Sharing This<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We are best known for our brake kits, rotors, and pads like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.r1concepts.com\/category\/r1-eline-silver-series-drilled-and-slotted-brake-rotors\/561\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>eLINE Series<\/strong><\/a> or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.r1concepts.com\/category\/r1-geo-carbon-series-drilled-and-slotted-brake-rotors\/553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"DFB-Blog GEO-Carbon Series 1777032269\">GEO-Carbon Series<\/a><\/strong>.
