The Problem:<\/strong><\/p>\n

My girlfriend has a 2001 Lexus ES300 with 160,000 miles. She’s been having starting problems at least once a week for half a year. I’ve notice when the weather is cool or cold, that’s when it really had a hard time starting. I checked the battery, it was\u00a0 good. Took a look at the spark plugs, still good but changed them anyways, didn’t solve the problem.\u00a0 Thought maybe it needs a tune up so I had that done, a week later, same problem. So I decided not to waste any more time and money,\u00a0 I took it to my mechanic. He took a look and told me the starting problem is very common for the 1992 – 2001 Lexus ES300 and the 1992 – 2001 Toyota Camry V6. He told me it’s not a cheap fix.<\/p>\n

The Solution:<\/strong><\/p>\n

My mechanic told me its the “Idle Control Valve” that needs to be replaced. I went online and did some research and to my surprised, he was right about ES300 and the Camry having start up problems. I saw threads on forums and blogs about it. Everyone asking what the problem was, and I saw how many people tried so many different fix that weren’t the right fix. Which they end up wasting money. Even the people that took it to the Lexus\/Toyota dealers didn’t know what was wrong with their cars. So I gave it a shot, lucky our company carries this part for my girlfriends car. She plans to keep the car for awhile so it was worth to get it fixed. I got the part and had my mechanic install it, this is something that is not easy to do it yourself. He charged me $150.00 for the labor. Had it installed and 4 months later and now the car has 170,000 miles, never once did it have the starting problem. WHOOOHOOO!!!<\/p>\n
