Batman Fan builds Tumbler Replica for $70,000

You’re not a true Batman fan until you’ve build your very own Batmobile / Tumbler; that’s precisely what Bob Dullam and Bob Causey did.  The “Bobs” started this project out of their garage not using any blue prints, but rather by looking photos for reference.

All the parts such as tires, rims, brake, engine, body parts, and brackets were built from scratch.  So far, the project has cost them about $70,000 with only the exterior being completed.  And yes, the vehicle is functional with a V8 engine.

When asked about the project, Dullam had this to say, “Bob C. and I each work independently out of our homes on these cars. For each of us, a big dream come true. We do it from shear determination, lack of sleep, thinking out of the box constantly. not easy. It feels like climbing Mt. Everest half way up, you start to wounder if this wasn’t a big mistake. Then you realize that you are too far to quit. In fact, quitting is now not an option. Because if you do quit, you will have set a precedence about yourself, and all up to this point will become a huge disaster.”

So are you wondering if he’ll be selling it? “No, not building this to sell. You wouldn’t want to sell this if you had one, believe me. It’s a once in a lifetime project. I did this alone, no help. I have found with other things in the past that if you have help, the help often does not get it(parts) right, and you have to do it over 95% of the time, plus I like to work alone.”

Their “Batman gear” collection includes the Batman Forever Batmobile, Tumbler, and Batman Suit, with future plans to build the Bat pod.  Hmm, I wonder if he’s the real BRUCE WAYNE?
