Back Up Cameras for All New Vehicles by 2014

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), about 300 children get killed every year from accidental backing up of cars and 18,000 are injured.

If you were to go through the steps of backing up your car; looking at your rear view mirror, side windows, and turn your head from left to right. You might not realize there is an extra blind zone on the direct rear below 2 feet tall. It is the height of most children.

There are many sad stories of cars backing up and killing children, but the saddest thing is, it mostly occurs from their own relatives. There was a true story of a father accidentally backing up and killing his 2 year old son.

This is why through Government Regulations and advise from the Department of Transportation, every new vehicle by 2014 may be required to have back up cameras installed.

The price of cars may increase from having these cameras be mandatory in each new vehicle, but it will be worth it. Anyone with right sense of mind would feel guilty to kill or harm an innocent being especially children. I really hope this law passes. It will prevent accidents and be much safer for all the children.
