Offroad at Metal Masher and Top of the World

Day 1 – Adventure Awaits

Our Moab adventure started when we met with Tiffany Stone (@tiffanystone) and the GenRight Off Road (@genrightoffroad) team at the Metal Masher trail head. With a rating of 7, this trail offers both easy and very challenging obstacles. From the gatekeeper, to Misty’s Thumb, to the Widow Maker…this trail has it all. The best part is the amazing view from the top, overlooking the valley!

Tiffany, or “T-Stone,” has never driven a vehicle with our R1 Big Brake Kit. With a Gladiator at hand, we thought it would be a great idea to have her wheel for the day. To stop our Gladiator we have a 6 piston, 356mm rotor for the front and a 4 piston, 345mm rotor in the rear.

Her JLU “Lucifer” was also on trail and is equipped with our slotted and custom-engraved e-Line rotors. Paired with the rotors are our new R1 Performance Off-Road pads. Having that stopping power–especially when traveling over rough terrain–is essential when you come to Moab. That stopping power not only keeps you and your passengers safe, it also lets you get the most amount of fun from your ride. And that may very well be the greatest benefit of all.

Speaking of fun, we can’t begin to describe how exciting it is to go wheeling with the GenRight team. Not only were their rigs capable of handling the trail, but they also made seemingly impossible things look easy. Team GenRight is equipped with our R1 Big Brake Kit (spec’d specifically for GenRight) to go with their custom Currie Rock Jock axles. It’s the perfect pairing!

Big thanks to Tony, Val, Jeff, Kelly, and the rest of the crew for letting us join!

Day 2 – On Top of the World

We met up with Rockstar Performance Garage (@therockstargarage) bright and early. After convening on the main street, we made our way to the trailhead. Also joining us were the boys from Powertank, Scosche, Mickey Thompson, and a few of our brand ambassadors.

What made this day special was the debut of “The Great American Crawl” JKU (@famousmitch). It’s a JKU built by Rockstar Garage, outfitted with our forged series big brake kit, LS3 engine, Baja Designs lights, 40” Mickey Thompson Bajs Boss tires, KMC wheels, a ton of GenRight goodies! This build is something you really need to see in person and in action.

Our brand ambassador Ari (@riot_the_rubicon), who installed brakes on her TJ here in Moab, came out and we were stoked to get some footage of her and her rig. She’s running our e-Line series, slotted rotors with the performance Off-Road pads.

Top of the World is rated a 6, challenging for some but not for others. The long trek up is totally worth the majestic view overlooking the Colorado Rockies. To reach the top, you’ll come up against a steady climb of hills, ledges, and steps. Going down the trail is where braking is key. Taking a pack of 3500lb Jeeps down steep grades, and dropping off ledges and steps is no easy feat. You must trust in your brakes.

Brakes are such a commonly overlooked item when building a rig but we’re glad that our brand partners and brand ambassadors trust R1 with their braking needs. Hats off to our team that joined us today (@rogue_jku, @mr_stretchedjk, @thetrailreaper, @total_khaos_tj, @thephoenixjk, @scoscheinc, @mickeythompsontires, @powertankofficial).

Give everyone a follow to stay tuned and come along on our next adventure!
