Types of Brake Rotors

There are several types of brake rotors to choose from and each one will have their advantages. The four types of brake rotors include blanks, drilled, slotted, and drilled & slotted. At R1Concepts, we carry all four types of rotors. What you should purchase will depend on your own personal driving style, vehicle, and driving conditions.

R1Concepts Cross-Drilled & Slotted Rotors:

Our Cross-Drilled & Slotted Rotors combines the best of both types of rotors into a single rotor. These are great for defensive drivers to aggressive drivers in almost all scenarios. Cross-Drilled & Slotted Brakes are considered performance brakes due to the incredible stopping power they provide.

Advantages:

  • greater stopping power than original equipment brakes
  • zinc’d coated to prevent rust
  • double disc grinded for faster and even pad-rotor break in
  • manually inspected for quality
  • comes with a 1 year warranty against warping and cracking
  • fitment guaranteed
  • quiet and smooth stopping performance
  • Chamfered holes to prevent spider cracks around the drilled holes
  • Drilled holes keep rotor cooler to prevent warping
  • slots provide longer life for brake pads
  • slots remove dust and access water from rotor

R1Concepts Cross-Drilled Brake Rotors:

Cross-Drilled brake rotors are perfect for those who want increased stopping power. If you drive in hot weather conditions, consider getting these since they will help the rotor cool faster and decrease the chances of your rotor warping. The drilled oles allow for heat to be released throughout the rotor and the chamfering portion means that the holes are drilled to have a slight angle at the edge. The chamfer decreases the risk of the rotor cracking.

Advantages:

  • greater stopping power than original equipment brakes
  • zinc’d coated to prevent rust
  • double disc grinded for faster and even pad-rotor break in
  • manually inspected for quality
  • comes with a 1 year warranty against warping and cracking
  • fitment guaranteed
  • quiet and smooth stopping performance
  • Chamfered holes to prevent spider cracks around the drilled holes
  • Drilled holes keep rotor cooler to prevent warping
R1Concepts Slotted Brake Rotors:
Our Slotted brake rotors are great for those that drive in especially polluted conditions or wet conditions. The slots will help remove debris and excess water to increase breaking performance. The debris and water are caught pushed into the slots by the brake pads when you press on the brake pedal as you drive. The debris/water is then pushed out from the momentum of the spinning rotor.
Advantages:
  • greater stopping power than original equipment brakes
  • zinc’d coated to prevent rust
  • double disc grinded for faster and even pad-rotor break in
  • manually inspected for quality
  • comes with a 1 year warranty against warping and cracking
  • fitment guaranteed
  • quiet and smooth stopping performance
  • slots provide longer life for brake pads
  • slots remove dust and access water from rotor

R1Concepts OEQ Brake Rotors:

OEQ (Original Equpment Quality), also known as Blanks are made to be, at minimum, the same or even better than the original brake rotors supplied from the car manufacturer.

Advantages:

  • equal or greater stopping power than original equipment brakes
  • least costly
  • zinc’d coated to prevent rust
  • double disc grinded for faster and even pad-rotor break in
  • manually inspected for quality
  • comes with a 1 year warranty against warping and cracking
  • fitment guaranteed
  • quiet and smooth stopping performance
