Disc brake hardware includes springs and clips that help support the pad in the caliper. One kit will replace the parts needed for two calipers or both left and right sides of the vehicle (axle set). Hardware is usually made of spring steel. These parts are subject to fatigue due to a constant change of operating temperatures which can cause the spring steel to lose tempering. Disc hardware should be replaced as part of any complete brake job and will help to eliminate brake noise, premature or uneven pad wear, as well as other possible comebacks.
