IHRSA/ASD Obesity/Weight Control reported 3.8 million people are over 300 pounds, over 400,000 people(mostly males) carry over 400 pounds and the average adult female weighs an unprecedented 163 pounds.
This gives you a good idea that American people are getting bigger and have gained more weight over generations. Many people have many different reasons to loose weight. It can be for health reasons. It can be just to fit into some tight old jeans. Some people are so urgent to loose the weight to the point they will try any extreme diet program or pills. For instance, people use diet pills. Diet pills can help loose weight but can be harmful to your body and your heart. Diets such as Atkins diet can dramatically make you loose weight. You can eat everything except for carbs. The effect of it is you may loose energy and stamina over time with the diet. Your body gets tired quickly because your body normally uses carbs as a source of energy. In other words these extreme ways of loosing weight usually don’t last long for health reasons or its just a diet you can’t do for the rest of your life.
The best way to diet is not dieting. Instead, change your lifestyle. Slowly change the way you eat. What I mean is not to just suddenly exclude everything good and delicious to eat. Substitute foods to what you can handle for the rest of your life. For instance, if you tend to eat sweets like chocolate or brownies, why not try to settle for something that also tastes sweet and delicious, like fruits; grapes, oranges, bananas, apples, cherries, etc. If you usually eat a salad with thousand islands, why not try Italian dressing instead. Instead of eating French fries, settle for a bake potato. Instead of drinking a can of beer, why not try a glass of wine. You can still get a good buzz out of it. The trick is gradual changes that you can handle at the moment and then further it more later on. Next thing, eat smaller meals. Why eat 3 big meals, when you can extend it to small portion meals and eat 4 or 5 meals a day so you never get too hungry and you’re stomach doesn’t expand so much. You can still eat junk food and drink alcohol, but in moderation. Common sense, exercise is always a factor and beneficial in being healthy, so add it to your lifestyle.
This lifestyle process may take longer to loose weight and become healthier, but you will live a less stressful, happier life and can still enjoy delicious food for the rest of your life.
