If you are able to stay up to watch this annual Perseid meteor shower, you will be in a for a treat. For everyone in North America, it will start around midnight to 5 a.m. August 12, 2009. Forecasters are saying the best time for the west coast is 1-2 a.m. and for the east coast it will be from 4-5 a.m. Hopefully the weather will be clear where you live or where ever you are planning to watch the shooting stars. Astronomers are expecting up to 200 meteors per hour in short burst up to every 15 minutes. This doesn’t mean you will see them all as it also depends how bright the moon will shine which you wont be able to see the fainter meteors. Another good way to catch these falling stars better is to be up on the mountains/hills, roof tops, high buildings, away from city lights, or just plain dark areas. Enjoy and don’t forget to make a wish!
