Criss Angel Believe Review

After a few Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas, I had high expectations for Criss Angel’s ‘Believe.’ My first Vegas show was ‘La Reve,’ which had amazing water stunts.  The next show I watched after my next stay in Las Vegas was ‘Ka’ and the whole stage was alive and moved in all angles.  The third show I watch during my other visits in Vegas was The “O,” and it was fantastic as the rest of the two.  Each show had its one style and story.  So after watching these three big shows in Vegas, it gave me an excitement to watch magic mixed with Cirque du Soleil.

We were at the 2008 Sema show in Vegas at the time and booked our tickets in advance for the show.  I must say that I was very disappointed.  His magic tricks were old school and not like the one I’ve seen on his television series, ‘MindFreak.’ (Not to bad mouth, I do like watching MindFreak).  One of his first tricks was the disappearing act.  I knew he dropped down into the stage floor doors because later in the show there was many floor stage doors where props came out of.  The next magic that was very disappointing.  Talking about old school, I can’t believe he actually did the dove trick.  He pulled doves out of his coat (…boring) and the only surprising thing was actually seeing one of the dove fell.  At the very back row seats there was balcony section up top where the doves flew into after the trick was done, and one of the bird suddenly drop down from the balcony area onto a person sitting in the last row.  I would have been a little freaked out to see a bird drop on my lap.  Another disappointing trick, yes there was more disappointment, was his changing of clothes.  There was a big screen where he ran around and as he ran behind the big screen he change into different color clothes.  -The thing was, the stage was dim and you didn’t know if it was really him or a double.  There was a few more other magic trick that were decent and some where interesting.

So lets not forget the Cirque du Soleil, some of the dancing acts were ok and some were just plain boring.  It was more abstract dancing than Cirque du Soleil.  As I mentioned, there was a huge screen tv, some of the story was played on video, and watching a ‘live’ act show, I was once again disappointed.

Not going into detail for those who haven’t seen it.  If you have seen it, then leave your comments here.  If you haven’t, I would recommend watching other magic shows if you wanted to see magic, or other Cirque du Soleil than this one.  Or by any means, just watch his ‘Mind Freak’ series, because  there’s more magic in that 30 minutes than this whole two hour event.  He mentioned during this show that he was thankful to have Luxor sign his show with a 10 year contract.  He definitely need to change his show around to have it last that long.

I would agree with you on this one. I watch all of the Cirque De Soleil and all were very good. Not one has dissapointed me. But now there is one…. This show “Believe” with Chris Angel. I was falling alseep. Magic tricks were simple. You can guess how he did it. I guess nowadays… it takes more creativity to blow our minds with magic tricks on stage. Nothing really blew me away. I don’t know how this show will last 10 years. He needs to change it up ASAP! Screw it I’m going to say it… “I wan’t my money back!”

Criss is tasting the Balls of Hef’s off of Holly’s mouth. I am disappointed in Criss that he would go with such a low life whore. JD’s Daughter will learn alot from Holly like making Chocolate Mold Vaginas. How could you CRISS go with such a low life who claim to fame is her P***y. Everybody knows what your g/f VAGINA looks like. Great example for your family. Little Dimitra has a great role person to look up to.

  3. Get far away from HOLLY HO MADISON December 9, 2008 at 6:18 pm #

Hey Criss get away from that bleached blonde stupid whore Holly Madison. EVERYBODY is making fun of you that you are dating this used up whore. Come on find somebody to be proud of and not somebody who everybody knows what her vagina look like shaved and all.

  4. Lynn from Vegas December 10, 2008 at 4:43 am #

Hey Criss Poooo everybody knows what your whore girlfriend Holly Ho hairless vagina looks like. Not pretty!!.

    She is such a HO.

I was really dissapointed with this show. Im nearly fell asleep the entire way. Nothing like his show on Mindfreak. His trips was real cheezy, and the dancing was not to par. I would not recommend this show to anyone that is visiting vegas. After the show, I even lost money gambling. What a bad night. Im going to stick to my Discovery chanel. “eat cow balls, make fist HARD!”

  6. BAD since he started dating Holly the Whore December 13, 2008 at 2:40 pm #

People are losing all respect for Criss. It is really BAD. Since he started dating this tart nobody cares about him anymore. Him dating this Hef leftover is showing us all what Criss is all about. She is trash which makes him trash.

He couldn’t have picked a worse girlfriend.

I haven’t seen other live Cirque shows, but I enjoyed “Believe.” We were definitely entertained. These other comments are so harsh. People aren’t crowding to see YOU on stage (and no pretty Playboy bunnies are interested in you either.) Criss Angel is going to be performing ten times a week for ten years and I’m sure that will become a bit tedious for him. Give the guy a break!

  8. Chuck December 30, 2008 at 11:01 pm #

I just saw the show…. extremely disappointing. I cannot believe Luxor execs let this one in. How does this get so far into production without anybody raising concern? Hardly any magic, and what magic there was, was basic and undramatic. Cirque’s stuff was also the same thing you’ll see in a high school hip hop dance crew. Criss — you have to start completely over and revamp … You are crushing your image with this product.

    • Tek December 31, 2008 at 2:18 pm #

From the other comments about this girlfriend in this blog, the show is not the only thing that’s crushing his image. He definitely has to change it up to have his slow last 10 years.

Cirque should take their name off this one. I talked 7 people into going and all of them were totally disappointed. I am both a Criss Angel and A Cirque fan but this presentation was embarrassing. So many “GOOD” shows in Vegas and we wasted a valuable night on this one. Every person around us was complaining. We complained to the manager of the Luxor and he gave us 7 free buffett lunch vouchers and 7 free buffett dinner vouchers. Don’t waste your time or your money. Carl, Toronto, Canada.

    • Tek January 5, 2009 at 8:30 pm #

You’re lucky to get the free vouchers. I wished I had complained to managers.

We saw the show on January 4, 2009 and it was awful. We wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Spend your money in a casino it would be more entertaining.

  11. Lori January 15, 2009 at 1:00 pm #

Criss Angel was the reason we went to Vegas (from Canada).
So disappointed in his show, it bummed me out for the rest of the week I was there.
People expect to see the Mind Freak stuff. He should have just stuck to that!
Not a good teaming between him and Cirque. The Cirque part of the show DOES NOT compare to any other Cirque show on the strip. The others are fantastic.

Still a Mind Freak fan, but wished I hadn’t seen his show Believe. Left me disappointed and wanting my money back.
Wish I had complained to someone. Never even crossed my mind to do it as I am a very respectful person, but it truly was money wasted.

  12. daniel January 27, 2009 at 5:53 pm #

I saw this for my anniversary and it was the worst mistake of my life. Everyone knows how he did his tricks in the show. All 5 of them. And he was dancing with moles and rabbits!!!! Are you kidding me. I would have rather paid 50.00 and seen a movie in the theater and got popcorn and snacks. He is a joke

  13. Alex January 28, 2009 at 4:36 am #

We saw this show on 1/25/2009. I was stunned how pointless and stupid this show was. What is Cirque De Soleil is thinkng? Do not waste your money.

  14. CTX February 4, 2009 at 9:31 pm #

I went and watched this show with my Mom after seeing Cirque Du Soliel’s “O”, Toni and Tina’s Wedding, and Jersey Boys. This show was the biggest dissapointment of them all and it was the one I was most excited for. I had never seen Mindfreak or any of his shows, but I was expecting a magic show with a twist. Boy was I wrong!

His disappearing acts were ruined when we saw the hole in the stage, he barely did any illusions or tricks, the dancers didnt do acrobatics just weird choreography, and he seemed like one of the guys on Jackass by being kind of a douchebag on stage. I thought my 15 year old nephew would probably love it because of the high school jokes about getting head and laid by the girls in the front row. It really wasnt good for Las Vegas Standards. The funniest part was that he said “No Animals were hurt during the performance” and one of the doves missed the window, hit a speaker and fell into the lap of the couple beside us.

As for Holly Madison – she has nothing to do with the show! The people who care about that are just the girls who drooled over him to make him the tool he is today.

I paid good money for tickets to this show and was extremely disappointed. What a WASTE of everyones time this was!

Boring and stupid is how I describe this mess of a show.

I have taken my employees to every show in Vegas during our convention each year and my wife and I reviewed this one prior to this years convention, as many employees raved about Cris Angel and I refuse to waste any more money on this totally untalented idiot! Shame on you Cirque!! Close this mess before word gets out!!

  16. sam February 26, 2009 at 3:00 am #

I went to see the show last week, I was a very good fan of Mindfreak, but now I just think he’s a joke, he didn’t perform any good magic tricks, the show is like the worst nightmare Houdini had in all his life. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY IN THIS SHOW IT’S THE WORST IN VEGAS!!! You might want your money back, but guess what after you lose 100 dlls you feel obligated to tell people not to go to this stupid and bad quality show.

  17. Elizabeth April 6, 2009 at 5:27 pm #

I Believe I know why Holly dumped Cris…She was the show.
I Believe the show was a huge waste of a night in Vegas. I Believe the hecklers in the beginning of the show set an annoying start to a disasterous show.
I Believe was robbed of my money.
I Believe the video portion of the show was a tactic to waste time.
I Believe I could see the wires and holes in the floor during his ‘magic act’.

I Believe the best part of the show was Cris’ shirtless chest.

I Believe if I were the dance troup, I’d be embarrassed to be a part of this show.
I Believe there isn’t enough alcohol to make this show fun or exciting.
I Believe EVERY SINGLE person coming out of the early show warned us not to go,
I Believe I should have listened.
I Believe an executive in charge of making decisions should see the reality of a good idea gone horribly wrong and save the Cirque name. The show does not live up to any Cirque expectation.
I Believe I am no longer a Cris Angel fan.

  18. grace April 19, 2009 at 8:43 pm #

Just saw his show with my 14 yr. old grandson,it was so bad we almost walked out, but kept thinking it had to get better. Chis Angel did the worst magic I have every seen, and I am a big fan of his TV show. The whole premise of the show is about as stupid as it can get. BIG WASTE OF MONEY, LOTS OF MONEY. WARNING, DO NOT GO – YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED.

  19. Former Fan April 24, 2009 at 7:18 pm #

I liked Chris’s Mindfreak series and a I am a fan of magic in general. I am not a fan of boring shows or poor quality entertainment. This is both. chris has started to embarass himslf is the eyes of the world. Close it Luxor, the show is better on dark nights.

  20. suzin April 29, 2009 at 12:40 pm #

Thanks everyone! I was going to pay 160.00 for 3rd row seats… so thank-you for saving my money! I am such a huge fan of Mindfreak.. what a disappointment Believe would have been! I did see a clip of the show with the big huge rabbit.. it looked like a really bad acid trip!

    • Tek April 29, 2009 at 4:40 pm #

Use the money for the other spectacular shows in Vegas. I’ve seen “O,” “Ka,” “La Reve” and they are all worth the money & time. If the tickets for “Believe” was a lot cheaper, it would have been cool to see a live performance by Criss Angel himself. But again, for that price, I’ll watch him on “Mind Freak” instead.

I wonder if they made any changes to the performance since I watched it in September 2008.

Besides that, have in a good time in Las Vegas!

  21. aNn_1 April 29, 2009 at 6:37 pm #

Let’s just say don’t expect MindFreak at this show. Cirque du Soleil + not so close to MindFreak=Believe! haha

  22. mmmmmmm June 3, 2009 at 12:38 am #

very disappointed in BELEIVE….no story, bad magic just pointless lame skits, boring dances, nothing like the tv show mind freak..if this show was on broadway it would have closed after 2 days…i don’t see this show lasting 10 years…the old zegfried and roy show was worth the ticket price, not his BElIEVE ripoff!

  23. Achille Sirianni June 3, 2009 at 9:59 pm #

This show lacks everything. I had high expectations – magic and Cirque together. The only thing I BELIEVE in is that I lost $106. I will not recommend this show to no one. I like the Mind Freak Show on TV and definitrly have enjoyed all the Cirque shows, but this one is really bad, poor magic, poor dancing and lack of charisma. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. I have seen better high school magic shows! Criss I love you, but dude you need to do something quick.

  24. Athena June 8, 2009 at 11:50 am #

My hubby and I are very disappointed in the show! Nothing like what we had expected and honestly when people ask, we give them the honest truth! It was a waste of money and I highly do not recommend seeing the show! I like Criss Angel alot, but what is on TV and what the Show is, totally two different things. Sorry I am telling the truth…DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

  25. slimten June 10, 2009 at 11:32 am #

Yes, I am totally in love with Criss Angel. But I’m sorry this show sucked. I mean he did about 3 tricks total. He should stick to the theme of his Mindfreak show and just do tricks onstage. I wish I had read these reviews before I spent money on these tickets.

  26. angie July 1, 2009 at 12:19 am #

This show was definetly a HUGE disappoinment. I made a trip to vegas just to watch this show, and I have never felt so disappointed in my life. I was not very familiar with Criss Angel prior to this show, but I am a huge cirque’s fan. I was excited that cirque mixed a magic show with a cirque show, “How wonderfully Vegas I thought.” Please Don’t waste your money! You will truely regret it. And if you are just so curios to see it I recommend you buy the least expensive one’s possible. The theater is small and trust me you want to sit as far back as you can so you dont see the strings and horrible tricks up close. Even then, I really dont recommend you go.

  27. Heather July 16, 2009 at 6:10 pm #

I saw believe a few days ago and LOVED IT! Don’t believe all the other comments on here dissin the show. They just dont get the dark/weird concept of magic that Criss had. The costumes were AMAZING and the dancing was great. Yes it is different from any other Cirque show…but isn’t that what it was ment to be…something different? Who wants to go to the same boring show? I was in the second row and loved every second! I think people go in thinking its going to be some pretty happy Cirque show and its not. People need to open their eyes and experience other things! GREAT SHOW!

  28. Martin July 21, 2009 at 1:28 pm #

To Heather, well your the first person that liked it. Wonder if they made changes to the show for you to like it. But I think most people didn’t come in there and expecting a good Cirque Show, they were expecting a good Magic show similar to Mind Freak and it was not. Not a good Magic show nor a good Cirque show which means not a good show period. Believe = ZzzZZzzzZz.

  29. gerard August 15, 2009 at 10:10 am #

I waited in line for an hour to purchase 4 tickets to the Criss Angel show at the Luxor. My 2 sons, ages 16 and 24 were so excited, they could not believe that we were taking them to Criss Angel’s show. This show was so boring and the magic tricks (All 5 of them) were very common. My wife and I looked at each other and said “Well I hope the Kid’s are enjoying it?” As we were walking out of the show my 16 year old said, “That was lame, Dad”. And my 24 year old said” You got ripped off, can you get your money back?” I had seen Lance Burton a couple of years ago and his show much more entertaining at a third of the cost. You should be ashamed of yourself Luxor, for taking people’s money to see a show like this! BELIEVE-That you will get Ripped Off!

  30. Julie August 23, 2009 at 2:22 pm #

wow-I have been dying to see this show bc I love ‘Mindfreak’. I am really starting to reconsider. thanks to everyone for the warnings.

  31. BigPat August 26, 2009 at 8:40 pm #

I saw the show back in October and it was such a huge disappointment. From seeing the trap doors to the weird ass rabbits and story line it was horrible. I liked his TV show before but now I just consider him a total hack. Big waste of money, bigger waste of time. If you’re thinking about going to the show just take the money you’re gonna spend on the tickets and throw it into a fire you will feel better about it than if you went to the show.

  32. Alan September 17, 2009 at 2:08 pm #

    Damn!! It sucks!!
I had never seen something like this… it was boring and the best of it was the clowns that were performance stupid tricks…That show is just not right… Chris you just have to do what you are ment to not dacing along with rabbits… that show is the worst of Las Vegas… also I just hated the bad girl… and I also saw the Dove missing the window

  33. Not Criss September 22, 2009 at 6:11 pm #

My boyfriend and I were going to spend $85/ticket on Tom Jones, just because he’s so cheesy. Instead, we let our Criss Angel fan/friend talk us going to his show “Believe.” I think the best trick of the night was stealing our money and leaving us absolutely bewildered as to what just happened. The only people we noticed that enjoyed the show were his 15 year-old groupies, who’s parents were sadly taken for a ride just to quench their teenage daughters’ thirst for yet another bad, yet cute (and thereby famous only for that reason) performer. We much would have rather gone to see Tom Jones to laugh and be cheesy, as opposed to spending our money on what we THOUGHT would be good money spent on a good, legit show. Cirque de Soleil should be ashamed of involving themselves with such crap. They WOULD HAVE been the only redeeming factor…IF they would have actually performed. False advertising! No wonder it says, “Tickets non-refundable under any circumstance” on the back of the tickets. Otherwise, I would have complained and got our money back.

i was really looking forward to seeing criss angel (super yummy!) and cirque du soleil in the same show at the luxor when i went to vegas in february and now i'm not nearly as excited as i was before i read so many bad reviews in a row…. oh well – maybe i just won't spend all my money on good seats!!   at this point i'm still a major criss fan though. really hoping to catch him filming a mindfreak segment and doing his act in the lobby of the luxor – now that would be cool!
