It was a saturday night and there was nothing to do. So I’ve decided to watch a movie rather then spend the saturday night at home doing nothing. I search up on what’s playing and saw that “Step Brothers” just came out this passed weekend (July 25, 2008). I love stupid funny movies but I’m not a big fan of Will Ferrel. His movie seems to get lamer and dumber each time. It seems WIll is trying too hard to be funny from his old movies like ”Blades of Glory,” and “Semi-Pro.”  I loved him in “Old School.” But I decided to give Will another chance.

The movie is about a 39 year old man (Brennan Huff-Will Ferrell) that still lives with his mom (Nancy Huff-Mary Steenburgen) and a 40 year old man (Dale Doback-John C. Reilly) that still lives with his dad (Robert Doback-Richard Jenkins). Nancy and Robert are both single parents which fell in love at some conference they attended. They get married and moved in together. That’s when all hell broke loose in the house because of Brennan and Robert.

These 2 guys are like 9 year old boys that loves to do nothing but stay home and play. The story goes on with these 2 boys breaking up their parents’ marriage and have confrontations with Nancy’s other successful son (Derek-Adam Scott). The 2 boys have to share rooms, get a job, and move out.

When I say boys, these 2 guys really do act like it. Both of them sleep walking, fighting, watch tv and scratch their privates, and playing like little boys. Brennan and Robert realize it’s time for them to grow up and have to get their parents back together.

Martin’s Reviews:

I won’t go more into the story incase you haven’t watch the movie yet. But there are many surprising, funny, and shocking moments. The preview actually only showed you the softer side of the movie. So this movie was funnier and more entertaining then I thought it would be. Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly looks more like brothers then step brothers.

My grade for this movie is a B-. If your a fan of Will Ferrel or looking for a movie with good laughs, I would recommend you to watch it.

I’ve watch WALL-E 2 weeks ago after hearing from my friends that it’s a really good animated movie. I’ve always been a fan of Pixar Animation Studios movies (I’m a kid at heart). The animation in this film is amazing like always. The story is very touching. I won’t go into much detail incase you haven’t watch it yet. But the story will open your eyes to what the future may lie ahead in a over exajurated way.

I’ve written a blog on how R1 Concepts Inc. has gone green. Well this movie shows what the future might be like if we don’t change how we dispose trash, not recycling, rely so much on technology to make our life easier, and just mainly being careless of how we treat our Earth. To me this movie was a big eye opener of how we take everything for granted.

So who is WALL-E and what does he do? WALL-E (stands for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) is a robot and his job is to pile up the trash that surrounds the whole city. The Earth was no longer bearable to live so the Humans left the Earth and lived in outspace in a very big space ship. All the robots similar to WALL-E was shut off except for him. 700 years later the Humans sent out a robot name EVE (female robot I guess) to Earth to search for a object that can prove Earth is once again,  livable. Once WALL-E meets EVE he goes on a really big advanture to help bring the Humans home to Earth. That is all I’m going to say and I’m sorry if I have told too much.

Once again, go see this movie. I hope it will open up your eyes about going GREEN as it has to me. If it didn’t, you will still love the heart warming story and many humorous scenes. This movie gets 2 thumbs up from me. Also give it a A-.

After Steven B. did a rant blog about Heath Ledger, and his role as the Joker in the ‘The Dark Knight,’ I had to watch it right away.  I’m a old fan of Batman (who isn’t)!  Even though I didn’t read a lot of the comics, I watched the television series when they had Batman & Robin in tights.  I remember everytime Batman punches someone a big sign of “pow” would pop out.  Loved it, and it so old school!!!  I also watch the cartoon series, had the action figures while back when I was little child, and watched all the Batman movies as well.

Watching ’Batman Begins,’ and the sequel, ’The Dark Knight,’ blew the old Batman movies aways.  The Batman movies before were a bit cartoonish and frictional scene, as the two recent Batman movies were very action packed realistic to our time.

Hands down on Heath Ledger!!!  From the Jokers’ appearance, little hand/mouth/tonuge jestures, and to his voice, no other actor could have pulled the Joker as well as he did.  But I do respect the old Joker, played by Jack Nicholoson.  Christian Dale pulled another great performance in his role as Batman.  Every actor brought thier “A” game in the performance.  I don’t want to spoil the movie, so I won’t go into detail of what happens, but just to let you know Joker is not the only villian.  If you have seen all the previews, you’re gonna like how they tie in the next villian.  I didn’t even know myself, so it was a overhaul of suspense.  Just how the scene by scene, story by story really gave creditiblity to the name “Batman.”  There was a lot of twist, lots of cool new Batman toys, and a very good story line in what Batman represents not only in comic but also in our real world.  He fights to represent: good, and the hate for being good; to keep his name, Bruce Wayne, and trying to hold on his love thats is blocked by being Batman.  So I’ll end with a ‘must watch movie’ of this summer!

Watch when Batman punches someone!!! Classic!!!

Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the first Batman Movie:

“The Dark Knight” - (trailer)

The trailer definitely give the hype into the movie.  When Batman was alone on top of the building, that was shot on the Sears Tower, in Chicago.  So drop all plans and go watch “The Dark Knight.”  When you do watch it, let us know what you thought of the movie!

We all know gas prices are sky rocketing through out the nation, so here’s a few tip on ways you can save money on gas.

First things first, you have to get rid of your gas guzzling SUV’s and trucks. Getting 10 miles to the gallon is not helping. Always keep your tires inflated properly for better gas mileage and even tire thread wear. Another thing you must do is get your regular tune ups and always change your engine oil once you hit the 3000 mark. Lastly, you should empty out all the junk in your trunk of your vehicle. The more weight you have weighing down the vehicle, the more gas you would be wasting. For every 250 pounds that your engine is hauling, you lose about one mile per gallon on your vehicle.

Top 10 ways how “Men” can save gas!

10. Drive a one cylinder car.

9. Push your car to work, if you carpool, tell your partners to push while you steer.

8. Strip the car down to the metal and leave just the seats and seat belts.

7. Use your friend’s credit card and write him an I.O.U.receipt.

6. Show up to work every other day.

5. Turn your car off when going down hill.

4. Take the wife’s car

3. Make the riches guy in your group of friends drive

2. Fill out as many raffles as you can at the mall to win a hybrid car.

1. Take your mistress and your wife out to dinner at the same time.

Here at R1 Concepts Inc., we are doing our part to save the planet. I’m a true believer that a company, let alone a person can make a big impact to our Earth. Global warming has been an issue for a long time and now the government and the World knows the damage we are causing. We are now seeing the effects from it all and what will lie ahead if we don’t change our ways soon. From the rapid melting ice caps in the Arctics, to higher temperatures which effects crops, higher water levels, extinction of animals, and many more.

Here are some of the few things R1 Concepts Inc. is doing to help:

1. Recycle - We recycle everything that is recycable. From cardboard boxes, plastic wraping, anything plastic, styrofoam, wood pallets, scrap metal, scrap iron, paper, magazines, books, anything recycable we will recycle it. No matter how big or small it is we recycle everything. We also recycle old rotors, if you have old rotors, instead of throwing it in the trash, you can give it to us to recycle them. We even recycle the water that comes out of our fish tanks thats in our offices.

2. Energy Saving -  All of our office lights we use EngerySaving light bulbs. For the warehouse we only use certain lights that is needed. We had skylights installed to elimate the need to use lights during the day.  We turn off all computers and printers after our business hours. Did you know if you leave your computer on each day you will waste an average of $60 a year. All of our air conditioning are set at 75 degrees. We also had the roof on our building redone. Now theres a silver polyurethance coating that helps reflect the sunbeams and heat off the building like a mirror. So we dont have to use much of the airconditioning in the warehouse.

3. Car Pooling - We have a car pooling system here at R1 Concepts Inc. and 50% of our employees are doing it. So we are driving less and also saving a ton of money on gas since gas are so expensive. Did you know that a worker spends an average of 47 hours per year, thats almost 2 days, commuting through rush traffic.

4. Digital - We try to avoid using paper. So we try to do everything using the computer. From saving files, receiving statements, billing, fax, reviewing documents on screen before printing, just anything to avoid using paper.

5. Use Recycled Material -  When we do use paper we buy recycled paper. We also use 20% recycled cardboard boxes for our packaging.

6. Limit Trash - With all the recycling and not wasting extra materials, we really limited our waste. We use to have 2 big trash cans (about 75inches by 45inches) which were picked up twice a week. Now we have only one big trash can that is picked up twice a week. So we have dropped our amount of trash by half. We are aiming to have the big trash can picked up only once a week.

We are still finding ways to stay green. If you have more suggestions, ideas, or comments please let us know. Please find it in your heart to do your part to stay green. Mother nature has given us so much, it’s time to give back. I’ve met a lot of people that don’t recycle at all, that will be a good start. There are many more tips on ways to stay green not just at the work place, but everywhere.

Our beautiful Earth.... Let\'s do our part and save it.

Please recycle everything.
