Was out and about to catch a flick. Got to the movie theatre and there’s nothing that really capture my interest to watch. Then saw Four Christmases on the screen. Hmmmm… Oh thats the movie with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Vince is a hilarous guy so I guess I had to watch it. I also remember seeing the previews and it was pretty funny. Plus its about the holidays and Christmas is around the corner. (As you can tell by now I like comedy movies).

This movie is about a couple name Kate and Brad. They are an unmarried couple that lives in San Francisco. Their relationship seems perfect. They agree on everything, have the same point of views and goals. They like taking trips, anything that involves them two together and only them two. They always try to avoid their family every holiday. They had a bulletproof excuse not to attend any of their families gatherings. But the lie they came up with was exposed on the news when fog stopped them on their tracks. Now they have no choice but to recover from their lie and attend all four family gatherings in one day. They will need a plan and exit strategy to come out alive. They will be lucky if they even still end up together and go on their vacation.

Why four? Reason is both of their parents splitted. As they attend each family gathering… they start to realize that the family they were desperately tried to avoid all this time because of the pain they’ve gone through with them. But towards the end they realize it’s how their family are, made them the person they are today. They start to change their views in their life about what they want in a person and what they want in their future. They also start to find out that they don’t know each other as well as they thought they did. I wont go any futher incase you haven’t watched it yet.

Martin’s Reviews:

This movie was funny. Also relates to how I think regarding marriage and kids. Everyone can relate to atleast one of their family member. Makes you realize what is important in your life… and that is “Family.” I love Brad’s brothers, they are so much into wrestling and act like wild kids. Also Kate’s mom (Mary Steenburgen) is really hot and their family of milfs is hilarous. Vince and Reese did a good job being a couple. For some reason, Reese Witherspoon looks old in this movie. She’s not as pretty as how she used to be in her other movies. Well I never watch or should I say finish any of her older movies to relate to (too girly for me), but I remember her looking much prettier.

Should you go watch this movie?  I would say wait for the DVD. It has laughs and some of the holiday feelings but it just seem to be lacking something.

I’m a fan of Michael Cera who plays Nick and a very big fan of Kat Dennings who plays Norah. Reason why I’m a big fan is because these 2 actor and actress play roles of their real personality. No matter what movies they are in, they always play themselves sort to say. Also I think Kat Dennings is so cute (sorry I had to admit it). I became a fan of hers when I watched The 40 Year Old Virgin. After watching Nick & Norah, I became a bigger fan of hers.

I don’t want to kill the movie incase you haven’t seen it. But the whole movie takes place in one night in Lower East Side Manhattan. Nick plays in a band with 2 of his gay friends Thom (Aaron Yoo) and Dev (Rafi Gavron). Nick still has high hopes of getting back with his ex-girlfriend Tris (Alexis Dziena) but she was cheating on him while they were together which Nick doesn’t know. Nick sends Tris mix tapes which Tris just throws away but Norah picks them up and listens to them. She doesn’t know who this Nick is but from the mix tapes she feels like he is her “musical soul mate.”

Nick and Norah hooks up in a club where Nick and his band played. Then the adventure starts from there and throughout the night. Tris started to get jealous seeing Nick with her friend Norah. They go around the city looking for a secret concert where a band name Where’s Fluffy will be playing. Throughout the movie there were some funny moments from Norah’s drunk friend Caroline (Ari Graynor), Nicks gay band friends, and his yellow Yugo. She gets lost so now Nick, Nora, and his band have to find her and find the band Where’s Fluffy as well. There’s also a secret about Norah… I won’t tell you what it is. I will end it here so you can go watch it yourself.

Martin’s Review:

I’m not a big fan of date movies, but this one was good because of the funny moments and many scenes you can relate to. It’s a simple story but gives you a good feeling when you walk out of the theaters. I also just came back from New York so it was cool seeing many of the buildings, clubs, and streets of New York. This movie just reminds you all the good times you had when you were younger hanging out with your friends and how one night can change the way you see life. This movie was based off a book which I never read, but be sure to check it out as well.  I’m happy to announce that R1 Concepts do sell brake rotors and pads for the Yugo!

Michael and Kat look good and played good as a couple. They have good chemistry in this movie. I’m happy that Kat Dennings finally got one of the main roles in a movie. I hope this will open up more doors for her.

Martin’s Grade: B
