I’m no expert at explaining taste of cognac, but I would like to share my experience.  The special occasion finally came and I got the chance to open up the bottle of Remy Martin 1989.  (What’s Remy Martin 1989?  Read my blog here.)  There were a couple of good friends over and we decided to make this night the night to try something we know that’s already going to be great.

As for the taste, it was pretty smooth and rich with flavor.  I tried Remy Martin Extra before and that was extra smooth.  When I took the first sip of my 1989, it was very intense and full of spice with touch of vanilla.  When I pour the 1989 into a wine class and rolled it, the cognac was pretty thick or should a say creamy.  All I have to say that it was worth money.  Loved the taste and had a great time with my friends that night.  So if you’re into cognac, this a definitely must try.  You will definitely enjoy the taste.

I’ve been trying to research on this 1989 but I think this is only a special production.  A special one time batch you can call it, so 1989 can run out.  That made me think if I should get another bottle for keeps.

Have you seen those Amber Alert sign on freeway saying “No text messaging while driving.  Effective Jan 1.”  I drive all over the place in Southern California and saw these signs and wonder if they are going to pass another law like the Cellular Phone law.

Text messaging has grown phenomenally these past few years.  With the recent no talking on cell while driving California law passed, another no text messaging law going to be in effect soon in California.  The new No-text California law goes into effect on January 1, 2009.  The law is basically simple, text messaging on a text-based communication device while driving will be against the law for all drivers in California.  The violation also apply to reading and sending a message (email and so on) on a text-based communication device.

All violators are fine the same amount as the cellular phone law.  The fines are $20.00 (plus court fees) for the first offense and $50.00 (plus court fees) for the subsequent offense.  If they see that this has been a frequent violation they can boost up the fines to triple the amount.

Tek Thoughts:  It’s a good law to go into effect, .  I’ve seen many drivers whom are a been more careless driving while talking on the cellphone.  I dodge a couple of driver because they miss blind spots while changing lanes and so on.  As I pass them up, I see that they’re on their cellular phones and less attentive on the road.  These are careless accidents waiting to happen.

Make it an official New Years resolution to not text or talk on the without a headset device.  Happy New Years everyone!!!

Following up on the blog ‘10 Things to do before taking a Road Trip during the Holidays,‘ here are 10 things you should do to the house before leaving on the Road Trip.

1.  Water all necessary plants in the house.

2.  Supply additional food for pets, if any.

3.  Make sure all unnecessary appliances around the house is shut off.  (Don’t forget the air and heater.)

4.  Add additional window locks.  There are many types of window locks.  There are even window locks with keys, where if intruders break the window, they won’t be able to open the window without the key.  Some of the window locks uses Allen keys.  If someone was to break the window they still can use an Allen key to take off the locks.  It all depends what kind of window it is.

5.  Add additional garage locks, so they can’t be open even with the push of the automatic garage opener.  If the lock can be inside of the garage, its even better because there’s no outside access.

6.  Add auto timers for lighting to give it that ’someone is home look.’  There are digital timers where each day of the week can get set to different timing.  Home Depot they have a variety of different ones to choose from: www.homedepot.com.

7.  Make sure the house alarm is set on and that the alarm service agency has your cell number and other numbers to contact you in case the alarm goes off.  If you don’t have an alarm systems get those battery powered alarm sensors.  If the senors goes off it turns on the alarm sirens.

8.  Have a trust worthy neighbor, or better yet friend and family to contact in case there’s an emergency at the home.  Also maybe if they can come by daily to check the outside of the house to make sure window or door are not damaged.

9.  Make sure all expensive personal items are locked and hidden in secure place.  There many fake house hold products that are used as a hidden stash.

10. Knowing these step are checked and double check, you then have little worries and have a great vacation.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

When vacation time is over and everyone is back a home.  Please remember to take off the extra security lock or just make sure each lock has access to the key.  In case of an emergency,  and exit plan must be taken.  For instance, in case the window need to be an exit plan remember to have access to the window lock key.

Internet privacy is an ongoing battle between advertisers and consumers. This battle might be coming to an end with Microsoft’s latest innovation with their Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer 8 is currently in beta testing phase. Basically, IE8 has a feature called InPrivateBlocking which let users surf the internet without leaving a list of websites they visited stored in their computer. The new version can also disable data files called cookies, which get imbedded on a user’s computer by Web sites and online advertisement selling companies to track their activities.

Microsoft’s current browser, Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla’s Firfox 3 already have features that allow it’s users to block cookies and browsing history. However, they will have to do this manually each time they browse. In IE8, with InPrivateBlocking enable this data collection is turn off for good.

Another feature that is introduced in IE8 with InPrivateBlocking is its ability to block third-party content from appearing on Web sites. For example, you are surfing the internet on a site for global business and you see quotes for a vacation provided by another company. The global business site you’re on can collect information about you and your habits and share them with this other company. With InPrivateBlocking turned on, you will not see these types of content and allow these sites and companies to collect information about you without your consent. Instead, you get to evaluate a list of companies that are trying to collect or display information about you.

Besides the advanced privacy filtering features, IE8 will provide faster, more efficient browsing by implementing suggested results in the address bar. This feature is very similar to youtube.com’s search bar. When you enter a word or phrase you will get a drop down menu with words, phrase, or topics that might be relevant to you.

IE8 and its InPrivateBlocking feature will be a great addition for the common user. With the current browsing options people have no real control or visibility on how information is shared or recorded.  It is only fair that the user is able decide what should and shouldn’t be tracked.
